well then. * there's the Lakers game *
let's mention this first. the Mavericks played LA, in LA and smashed them in a decisive win, 94-80. now, let's review a few things here. the Lakers are the championship team. they are the top team, the are the number-one team. Mavs beat them, in their home. the Lakers are now 6-1 and the Dallas Mavericks are their only loss.
so that was a good game. I never did write about it and it really had to end up on here somewhere. and it's kind of far in the past now. but it was a killer game. I enjoyed it. the reason we are here now though, is the game that occurred earlier this evening, which was the Houston Rockets, in Dallas, for an early Texas Match-up this 09-10 season.
some background on this - the Houston Rockets have lost Ron Artest to the Lakers. Ron Artest was a very effective and cohesive player with the Houston Rockets last year, at least for a good string of games. then Ron Artest got poached by the Los Angeles Lakers. also in regards to Houston, Tracy McGrady is not playing, for whatever reason he is sitting on the bench in a nice suit, and they don't have Yao Ming because he has (a) serious ankle(s) injury(ies). Yao will be in rehabilitation for most of the season and so is off the court. what it means is that, with the record that the Rockets have now, combined with the setbacks, they really are playing well. but the Mavericks took them down.
the key points on the Mavericks side is Shawn Marion, Drew Gooden and Quintin Ross. Shawn Marion is looking really good and I like it. I like to see him out there looking good. Shawn Marion is involved in the game and making some baskets and stealing some balls and making some blocks and it looks good. Drew Gooden is working his way into the system and I think he's gonna be making some solid moves soon and get into the rhythm. and lastly is Quintin Ross who I have not seen do anything impressive so far up to this point.
anyway, the Mavs were behind for the 1st and 2nd quarters and then they busted the f out in the second half and went on a run and just smashed them. the Mavs were holding a double-digit lead down for most of the 4th quarter. it was not a close game. Jason Kidd looked amazing and he pretty much always does. he has been making some serious next-level top-shelf passes to guys that are highlight reel all the way. it's the kind of thing you want to rewind on the DVR just because it is so bad-ass. Jason Kidd will help you score, and then if you don't he'll just score himself. Dirk was super-good. super-bad like James Brown. also Erick Dampier is lookin super fired-up which is great. he got an alley-oop from Kidd that he slammed. Josh Howard looks good, Terry, Barea, everybody looks good.
yeah so this is getting kinda rambling and my computer is acting shitty so let's just say that the Mavericks are rolling...winning games and working out some powerful NBA basketball. it's a good sight to see.
